This year’s 24 Hour Musical will be Children of Eden
From musical theatre greats, Stephen Schwartz and John Caird, comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith… not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! An expansive musical, Children of Eden JR. has plenty of roles and life lessons for everyone.
In this fictional account, rooted in the Bible, Adam, Eve, Noah, and the God who created them, deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. As generations pass, faith and loyalty are tested, but the bonds of family and love remain strong.
The Who, What, Where, When

What Is 24 Hour Musical??
What is a 24 Hour Musical, you ask? It is a crazy idea to produce, cast, and put on a Broadway-style theater musical in only 24 hours! How can this possibly be done, you ask? Students (ages 8 to 19) show up for 6 hours on Saturday #1 for a fun, informal audition, and then they begin rehearsals. The kids return for another 3 consecutive Saturdays of 6 hours each, for a total of 24 hours. On the last Saturday, the public is invited to see the show.
Participating in 24 Hour Musical is a challenging, fast-paced, fun process. No audition prep is necessary, other than listening to and becoming familiar with the songs from the show (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) before the 1st day. We do not require parent volunteer hours, as we do with our regular Broadway-style shows. However, we still do need a few parents to help out, so if your are interested, please let Emily Amos, our 24HM coordinator, know.
Our version of 24 Hour Musical also adds another twist. This is NYT’s annual fundraiser. Since this program began in 2015, NYT’s cast has successfully raised funds to build 5 wells for Living Water International in Nicaragua and India. Beginning in 2016, any funds raised in excess of the amount needed to build these wells have also gone to local charities, such as 7 More Ministry, Redeemed Ministries, and Hands of Justice. This year, 50% of the funds raised will go to [insert charity name and link]. The other 50% will go towards NYT’s annual budget. After all, NYT is an important ministry, too!
Cast members will be encouraged to raise pledges for each hour they rehearse, or donations of any amount. Another goal of 24 Hour Musical is to instill in our NYT kids the idea that their God-given gifts and talents should be used for God’s glory and to serve His people.
