Our philosophy is simple: find the best instructors available and let them teach what they know best.  NYT has been blessed by many wonderfully gifted teachers who also have a love of God. These classes are an opportunity for students to learn a skill they didn’t have or fine tune previously-acquired skills. Our aim – whether through classes, productions, or camps – is to provide students with life skills that will serve them well now and in the future, as well as strengthen their faith as they engage with the world.

FALL CLASS LINE-UP

 

Drama – Competition Prep! (ages 13-19) – Monologue, dual monologue, duos, oh my!  College auditions, high school competitions, where do I start?  Come be a part of this fun class, and learn what is required to compete at the upcoming CiTA (Christian in Theater Arts) Secondary Theater Festival to be held right here in Houston in January!  But not only will this class prepare you for the festival, you will also learn the skills needed to audition for college theater programs, as well as other theater companies. Musical Theater Dance featuring Thoroughly Modern Millie (ages 13-19) – Hone your dance skills for the musical theater stage!  This fast-paced, energetic class will focus on improving your abilities, helping you with dance auditions, and gaining confidence performing in your next musical.  Come have fun with us as we explore choreography and dance steps from the classic musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.  Instructor: TBD  Class size: 20

Musical Theater Voice with songs from Aladdin (ages 13-19) – Want to boost your singing to the next level for the stage?  Need a little help and feedback about your next audition?  Want to learn how to better harmonize?  This semester we will explore the fun, energetic, contagious music of Aladdin.  Come join us on this adventure of drama, comedy, and romance!  Does having fun while hanging with friends and learning more about music sound like a good time?  Then come join us!  Instructor: Kristi Vaughn  Class size: 20

Triple Threat featuring The Sound of Music (ages 8-12) – Come sing, act, and dance your way onto the stage!  This class is unique in that you will get to experience all three aspects of musical theater!  Each semester teachers change their curriculum, so the more you take this class the more you learn!  It will be a fun and unique experience each time! Over the course of 9 weeks, you will rotate through 3 weeks of voice, 3 weeks of acting, and 3 weeks of dance … and watch out … you may just come out as a Triple Threat! 

And this semester our teachers will focus on music, choreography, and scenes from The Sound of Music!  Have you taken one of our Triple Threat classes before?  Don’t worry, this won’t be the same class.  Teachers vary the material between semesters to insure that you are learning something new and growing in your craft.  3 great teachers join forces in this class:  TBD (drama), Alex (Spencer) Harris (dance), and TBD (vocals)  Class size:  45 students

Aloha! featuring songs from Disney’s Moana (ages 6-7) – Come join the island fun in Aloha!  We will have lots of fun exploring the music of the islands, featuring songs from Disney’s Moana.  Your child will learn about different aspects of musical theater, all while having a blast through games, singing, dancing, and acting.  This is a fantastic class to learn introductory theater skills, all while having a great time.  Come play with us!  Instructor: Angel Weir  Class size: 12 students
