Teen Camp, for ages 12-19, is a sleepover camp that runs 5 nights and 6 days. New, experienced, or somewhere in between, there is something for every theater enthusiast to enjoy! Each day is full of rehearsals for a showcase which is held at week’s end. These rehearsals help build skills in voice, dance, and drama. More importantly, though, it’s an opportunity for spiritual growth as the campers spend quality time with their peers in worship and scripture each day.  And, of course, there is still plenty of time for fun summer camp activities, too.

For our camp theme this year, survey respondents voted for songs from a list of all-time favorite show tunes. Those that made the cut will be used at camp. Campers will learn the songs and choreography to go along with them. Then, on the last day, campers will perform the songs in a showcase for friends and family. Stay tuned to our Facebook page (National Youth Theater @NYTHouston) for a countdown of the winning tunes and other camp announcements.

This summer Teen Camp returns to Trinity Pines. For those who camped with us two summers ago, this will be a completely different experience. For starters, NO bunkhouses! Campers will be housed in cool lodges* that include dorms with their own indoor bathrooms, as well as a wonderful common area to hang out. The boys will be in one lodge and the girls in another (with older campers at one end and younger campers at the other). The lodges are closer to the dining hall, too. 😉 But, those aren’t the only changes!  This year campers will have access to ALL the Trinity Pines extra amenities: Ropes course, Sports fields & courts, Ultimate Frisbee, Kayaks and Paddle boats, the Pool, Gaga ball pits, Dodge ball court, and more! PLUS, a BRAND NEW WATER SLIDE is being built now and will be ready for summer!  Also this year, the showcase will be cabaret-style highlighting skills learned during the week. This exciting showcase, rather than a scripted show, will expose the campers to a wider variety of musical styles and allow for more solo parts.

The campers will be delighted to know that Justin Ray, professional dancer and actor, is returning as the camp’s Showcase Director! Also, our very own Justin Parks, NYT’s Artistic Director, will be leading devotions as well as coordinating student-led worship by some of our campers. To top it all off, we are thrilled to announce that New York Times bestselling author of 90 Minutes in Heaven, Don Piper, will visit camp to share with the kids his true story which led to the the book and the movie! To learn more about Don Piper, please visit his official website:

We hope you will join us at Broadway’s Greatest Hits Teen Camp 2018! It will be six days that you’ll never forget. Sign up today so you don’t miss out!

*Note to Parents: All dorms will be staffed with adult counselors. Additionally, all of our counselors, staff, and artistic team members have been vetted and have had background checks.

Please be sure to like us on Facebook @NYTHouston for coming details on additional camp staff that will be added in the coming weeks.
